About Me: I am a native Californian, growing up outside of San Diego with my mom and dad. I’ve lived and worked in California, Nebraska, and Nevada, before coming to Arizona in 2005. I share my home with my two cats, Henry and Bob, and I’ve been a kitten foster with Arizona Humane Society since 2018. I am involved in my church through accompanying the choir and occasionally playing for services. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, watching hockey, and continuing my education.

Background: After graduating high school, I started working as a preschool assistant. During those years, I earned an Associate’s degree in Child Development. After 5 years in preschool, I moved to Nebraska and attended Concordia University. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement and a religious teaching diploma. Because I love to keep learning, I have since completed two courses of Master’s degree work in Educational Administration and Special Education. In my 20+ years of teaching, I have worked with every age group from 18-month-olds to fourth grade.

How Long Have I Been Teaching: I have been teaching for 24 years. All but one year have been in Christian schools. I have always taught in a self-contained classroom, therefore teaching all the subjects. I feel so blessed that I am able to help children not only learn the knowledge they need to acquire according to the standards, but also help them grow in their faith and develop their Biblical worldview.

How did I start teaching: Teaching chose me! After high school graduation, the preschool director at my church’s school asked if I had a job. When I said I didn’t yet, she offered me a position as preschool assistant. From there I started taking classes, continued teaching, and here I am!
