Get to know me!

About Me: I am a third generation Arizona native.  Married my high school sweetheart and enjoy my two children and three grandchildren. I enjoy church, traveling, outdoors, sports, family, serving my school and community.

Background:

After graduating high school, I became the office secretary at Peoria High School where I graduated high school then became the instructional assistant while putting my husband through school and eventually law school. During those years, my former teacher/boss paved a way for me to start college and pursue my dream of teaching.Once my husband graduated and became an attorney, it was my turn. This is my 33 year in education, 27 years teaching junior and high school.

I continued my education and earned a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education, Masters in Educational Technology, Masters in Leadership, CTE Endorsement, and Work-Based Learning Certification. I retired from Peoria Unified School District after 27 years.

I truly believe God sent me to DCCS. I signed on as a substitute teacher and after the first day of school, I came out of retirement. I am now the Career and Technical Education Director, Internship Coordinator, Career Pathways and Business Marketing Teacher.

How did I start teaching: It has always been a dream.  I want to inspire today’s youth!

Favorite Subjects: Physical Education and Gymnastics 🙂

Favorite Bible Verse:  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Fun Fact: My favorite past time is in or on the ocean either scuba diving, surfing, cruising, fishing, swimming, BUT I do not like the smell of fish or able to eat seafood at all!
