About Me: I moved from Livonia, Michigan to Phoenix, Arizona in 2008, and I am the youngest of 3. My parents and my brother’s family live in the Greater Phoenix area and my sister now lives in Florida. I will be married on October 1, 2022 to Alisha Chasey, a native Arizonan who loves the Lord as much as I do and who helps individuals get un-stuck from health issues through her personal business: ResparkleU. I love the outdoors because it helps me re-center and connect with God. I enjoy running, hiking, camping, and kayaking. I am passionate about cultivating love for God and a Christian worldview in our young people. I look forward to married life with Alisha and to becoming a dad, when the Lord sees fit to bless us with children.
Background:
1999 Graduated from Taylor University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education
2007 Graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Master’s in School Counseling
2017 Started my Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership at Grand Canyon University. My dissertation (in process) is investigating the beliefs of middle school teachers toward providing autonomy-support to students as a way to boost intrinsic motivation.
I taught elementary and middle school students for 10 years. I also worked as a residential counselor with Boys Hope Girls Hope of AZ and as educational programs manager for HandsOn Greater Phoenix between 2008-2020.
1999-2003 Taught 5th grade, all subjects

2012-2020 Taught retirees how to provide academic support to students in elementary and middle grades

How did I start teaching: I was inspired by my 5th grade teacher, Mr. Mefferd, to become a classroom teacher. Since becoming a teacher in 1999, I have grown in my teaching effectiveness and believe that Christian education is one of the best ways to impact lives for eternity.
Favorite Subjects: Math and Psychology
Favorite Bible Verse: Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God (Matthew 5:8)
Fun Fact: I started dating my wife when I was 45 years old, and I still believe God has a special purpose for America’s 45th president!
