About Me: I have 4 beautiful children, 3 girls 1 son. My two eldest daughters have blessed me with talented son-in-loves. They each have 2 children, so I am a very happy MIMI to 4 grandchildren. I am very involved, behind the scenes at DCC-Phx campus in the media department, and have served, worked, and led in the Celebration of Chirstmas for 13 years. I have a background in music and theater and I love reading.
Background: While working at Cornerstone Christian Academy in South Georgia I taught art and music to kindergarten-9th grade. Putting on Christmas shows and spring programs was the highlight of my time there. Upon moving back to Phoenix I taught preschool and then worked as a mobile music teacher for several different preschools. Eventually, I began to miss teaching art and longed to help children discover their God-given creativity so I started my own business of teaching afterschool art clubs and summer camps. This led to a long-term position of 5 years of teaching art at Scottsdale Country day school. The skills I learned as a single mom of 4, maintaining her own business perfectly prepared me to come to Dream City Christian School and offer guidance and leadership to our growing Fine Arts department.
How did I start teaching: I believe that the Fine arts, wheter that be; visaul art, dancing, singing, creating space for worship, preaching, performing all of these are an extension of worship. Since God designed us all with some creative form of worship my greatest joy ( and job as a teacher) is to help young people discover what talent God put within them, to help them develop confidence in using/creating with that gift.
Favorite Subject: English!! diagraming sentences is the best
Fun Fact: At our big Christmas show, a Celebration of Christmas I have made costumes, led choirs, done hair and makeup, held many baby Jesus’ , helped with the camels, the donkey, the horses, the elephant and the tiger, but never the snake!
